Background
The Raleigh Housing Authority (RHA) is redeveloping Heritage Park, an affordable housing complex located in Raleigh, NC. Heritage Park has served Raleigh’s lower income families since 1975. Currently, it is home to 122 apartments and is located on 12 acres of land near Dorothea Dix Park. After 45 years, Heritage Park is in need of updates and RHA is seeking to increase the number of affordable housing units. Throughout the redevelopment process, some residents will need to be relocated and the communications and engagement surrounding this effort will be key.
P3 Deliverables
Public Participation Partners (P3) is planning and implementing a strategic communications and community engagement plan to gather input from residents and the public to refine the vision for the redevelopment. As part of these efforts, P3 will be developing an education and awareness campaign which will include small group meetings, web-based surveys and paper comment forms, virtual public meeting sites, and a webinar. Each of these engagement tactics will seek to reach specific targeted audiences, including potential future residents, the general public, and elected officials.
Outreach to these audiences will include postcards, monthly newsletters, social media posts, email campaigns, and media kits with press releases and articles. All materials will be translated into other languages for those with Limited English Proficiency as needed and all events will be mobile-friendly. P3 will also develop paper copies of the survey and distribute it through community partners to help increase access.
